Turns out it was at a bar, and I haven't been to a bar in...oh...five years? I don't drink OR smoke, so bars hold no real appeal for me. Luckily the "barliness" of it wasn't much of an issue since the main focus of the evening was on the open mic shenanigans.
Turns out I'm a TERRIBLE person to have in the audience if you're trying to do stand-up comedy. I'm really sorry about that, would-be stand-up comedians. I really do respect the ever living shit out of what you're doing, I know it's hard as fuck. But apparently I also have no filter after 11 PM and can't make myself keep my mouth shut.
The smoke in the bar was way too much for me. Ever since leaving The House, I make an effort to avoid smoky places like that as much as possible. My throat is not happy with me this morning.
This is also the first time in a long time that I've stayed out so late. Since a friend gave me a ride, I didn't get home until around 2 AM.
This morning I feel all foggy and weird in a way that I haven't felt for a long time. OH HAI, I'VE BECOME AN OLD WOMAN, IT SEEMS. Or at least one of those people who doesn't like hanging out in bars or staying out past midnight.
As a result, I don't really want to DO anything right now, except eat food and stare off into the distance. The good news is, I busted ass yesterday and got mostly caught up with orders, so I only have to make two hoops today, and one's a simple budget hoop (only one wrap of tape, takes next to no time). I think if I can finish those I will give myself the rest of the day off.
All of this old lady bitching aside, I had a great time last night. I really wish the bar had been less smoky, but it was great to see my friends and have a night of stupidity. (Did you know that Denton is Butthole Town? We learned that last night.)
