But I'm IRRITATED BY SOMETHING ELSE today. You see, today, the girls got to stay home from school. They told me this yesterday at dinner. Confused, wondering if it was Labor Day or something, I asked them why.
They replied, in a tone implying I was foolish to not know, that "It's Cinco de Mayo!"
..................THAT IS NOT AN AMERICAN HOLIDAY. IT EVEN HAS A LITTLE (MEX) IN PARENTHESES ON MY CALENDAR INDICATING THAT IT IS MEXICAN AND NOT AMERICAN. I'M PRETTY SURE TEXAS, DESPITE ITS BEST EFFORTS, IS STILL PART OF AMERICA.
I have nothing against Cinco de Mayo? Honestly, I've always thought it was kind of a cool holiday because it was so close to my birthday? But I didn't get to take the day off for it when I was in school! WHY SHOULD THIS YOUNGER GENERATION GET TO??
I want to petition the school and see if they can also stay home for Boxing Day and Guy Fawkes Day.
