This is odd for several reasons: 1) I'm not really all that political. 2) The political part of me is typically pretty liberal. 3) Talk show hosts in general, especially republican ones, tend to make me want to slowly claw my eyes out with a rusty fork.
What makes Glenn Beck particularly different? Well, first of all, a big deal on his show is that he is interested in politics, but he gets so sick of all the crap involved in it that he tends to just bullshit about stuff that he finds interesting, rather than what's going on politically. This is awesome to me, because politics tends to frustrate me, too, plus Glenn is REALLY FUCKING HILARIOUS. One time on the show, he called up his wife and spent an hour forcing her to read off what was on his iPod, then he and his producer discussed them. When Star Wars came out, and the filibuster was going on, he spent the entire show talking about Star Wars, occasionally going, "Blah blah blah, filibuster, but really, what do you think about Star Wars?"
Secondly: While he is a republican, he's not the type of republican that will go, "Obviously, since I am a republican, all democrats are wrong about everything all the time, and I am clearly right." He is the type of person that has his beliefs and values, but always, always listens to the other side of the argument and bases his conclusion off of having all the information. Granted, he isn't perfect, and there is stuff he feels so strongly about that he's unwilling to bend on his ideas much, but he's not an asshat about things like
So, yes. Glenn Beck is a pretty bad ass dude, and I encourage anyone who's never listened to his program to give it a shot.
