BEST STORY OF CEDAR POINT DAY ONE:
So mom, Clarice and I were riding the Blue Streak, and Clarice had her camera out while they were loading the train, and the attendant told her to put it away. So she did. However, she got it back out as we rolled around and began climbing the lift hill. About halfway up, the train stops. I was excited, I love getting stuck on rides (because I am retarded? Probably), and I'd never been stuck on Blue Streak before, so I reveled in the experience while we watched the attendant climb the lift hill, presumably to fix the problem.

Nopers. It was to ask Clarice to delete the pictures she had taken and put her camera away.

Let me repeat that.

They STOPPED the ENTIRE RIDE just so the attendant could bitch out Clarice for having her camera out. I found it pretty freaking hilarious, and luckily, so did the other riders. I mean, seriously. There comes a point when you just have to let it go, man. Chastise her and make her delete her pictures when the ride is over!

I wish I had time to read my fl...maybe I'll get a chance tomorrow?? Right now, it's late and I'm sleepy and I should probably be sleeping instead of posting but YOU GUYS KNOW HOW I ROLL.

No way, man! That's too much time! She could have ALREADY uploaded the pictures to Photobucket or Twitpic or the White House! THEN PEOPLE WILL KNOW WHAT ROLLER COASTERS LOOK LIKE!

THE HUMANITY!

the humanity

Um, was there a big obvious sign saying NO PHOTOGRAPHY? Or maybe the attendant was having a really bad hair day and didn't want to be in anyone's pictures in the background.. or very very far away at the bottom of the hill...

Well, we found out later today that there is no photography allowed on ANY ride, and they do ask you to secure loose articles. I know why it's not allowed, because the camera might fly out of her hand and brain someone further back on the train. I just think it's hilarious because they STOPPED the whole ride! Crazy business!

Isn't it unfortunate that "undelete" is the simplest possible thing you can do with deleted photos? Just drop another memory card into the camera after deleting the pictures, then use a file-undeleter utility to magically resurrect them.

Told you. They don't like you taking Videos on rides or pictures. IF YOU WOULD JOIN A.C.E. YOU CAN TAKE ALL THE PICTURES YOU WANT ON RIDES! The parks let us take pics and video when there isn't any G.P. on board. (General Public) Parks have been known to look up your I.P. address if you post videos or on ride pictures and give lifetime bans. (Holiday World is famous for it) I know I sound like an old man, but it is against park policy. Your mom would have been pissed if you got kicked out. Read the parks rules brochure. P.S. what if someone got hit with the camera ON the ride, chastising would have been too late if it was after. Cedar Point would have been sued because, "It's their ride." And their employees who are supposed to check. They don't want you taking ANYTHING on rides anymore. Why do you think every ride has lockers now. Cause people getting hit by peoples property on rides believe it or not is the reason for 20% of all amusement park injuries. Totally True!! If I were on the train I would have told her to put it away, or notified the attendant when re-entering the station. I love getting people kicked out and ruining their day. I've already rode all the rides, getting people kicked out is the only excitement I have anymore. Just got a family of 5 kicked out of Great America for cutting in line last week. Good Times. My Icon was taken before Park opened, with my camera, duct-taped to my hand. :)

I love you, you dork, I knew you'd have something to say on this. ;) Keep in mind, it was not me with the camera problem! I just thought it was hilarious. :) I even explained the hitting people with the camera/duct taping it to your hand if you're an ACE member thing to my friend.

Which, btw, I think I'm just going to ask for an ACE membership for Christmas, since I obviously fail at buying one on my own. My mom said she thought about getting me one for my birthday but forgot when my birthday actually rolled around!

They STOPPED the ENTIRE RIDE just so the attendant could [jibblie out Clarice because I like backwards-music-related euphemisms for cussing even when quoting others] for having her camera out.

Those Nazis!

Making her delete the pictures is either punitive or because the attendant is just confused. Those rules are to keep objects people are holding from potentially harming bystanders if someone loses their grip on the camera, large drink, whatever. As such, it's a safety precaution and I'm in favor of that. But it's easier to just say, "your camera could hit someone, put it away" than to try to enforce a rule with an obscured motive.

Confused people are confusing.

Right... I didn't get the deleting the pictures thing either. It's to put the camera away so it doesn't fly out and hit someone or get stuck in the tracks. I think the attendant just wanted to look "big" or something. Ugh. I think I would have told her no and went and complained and got free tickets to come again another day. LOL.

I got the "wanting to look big" impression from him, pretty greatly. But we were too busy laughing to be indignant. :)

Yeah, I think the deleting was more the ride attendant trying to lord his attendantly power over us by making her delete the picture, although I did think today of the fact that they make money selling pictures of you on the rides, so I can see why they wouldn't want you taking your own. HOWEVER, this was a ride that does not have a picture taking station, so I again think it was just an extra fuck you to her.

Blue Streak is actually one of my favorite rides at C.P. :) I think it's great to go on "Classic" wooden coasters. (Classic means, no ratcheted lap-bars, or seat dividers, your basic N.A.D.D. trains) Great airtime on Blue Streak. Best time to ride, after a rain with no trim breaks.

AGREED. Except, have you been on it since they changed the seats? It's been stripped of its "classic" title because of it! Now they have head rests and this stupid wedge in the middle, which makes my hips sore because it's obviously for people with TINY HIPS. I still ride it anyway, the air time's still fantastic, but the new seats are HORRID. GIVE ME MY CLASSIC SEATS BACK, PLZKTHX.

Yeah, I was there for opening day. Seats do suck now!! I ride by myself for more room. 1 thing I did like was the retracting seat belts.

Ha, it's funny you should say that, Blue Streak is actually the oldest coaster in the park, built in 1964! They do have a "no photography on any ride EVAR" policy, but we were just being bastards. It's our own faults. But the fact that they stopped the whole freaking ride is the best part!
